L2 and L3 light rail services may be temporarily held at stops or partially closed due to Police Operation

On Sunday 7 June, L2 Randwick Line and L3 Kingsford Line light rail services may be impacted between 2pm to 3pm approximately due to road closures around Town Hall for a planned Police Operation protest march: 
  • L2 and L3 services may be temporarily held at stops, or 
  • L2 and L3 services may be temporarily partially closed between Circular Quay and Town Hall. 
  • Impact to services and timings may change at the direction of NSW Police. 
Please check information screens at stops, listen to announcements and follow the direction of staff or Police on site, as necessary. 
 
Allow extra travel time and use the Trip Planner for alternative transport options, including trains, buses or walking. 
 
L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services should continue to run as per normal. 

L2 and L3 partial line closures during Vivid Sydney on Fridays and weekends

From Friday 22 May to Saturday 13 June, due to road closures and for pedestrian safety during Vivid Sydney, L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford light rail services will not run between Circular Quay and Town Hall during the following times: 
  • On Fridays from 6pm to 1am, and  
  • On Saturdays, Sundays, and public holiday Monday 8 June, from 5pm to 1am.  
Light rail services will continue to run between Town Hall and Randwick or Juniors Kingsford during these times.

If you are travelling to Circular Quay, continue on foot from Town Hall or change for trains. 
Note on Saturdays and on Sunday 7 June from 6pm to 11pm, Sydney Trains services will not drop off passengers at Circular Quay Station – use Wynyard, Martin Place or St James stations instead.

Train trackwork in the City may affect how you travel

Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 June
  • Nightly from 9.40pm to 1.30am, train trackwork on the City Circle may affect how you travel.
  • Trains do not run between Central and Wynyard, or on the City Circle.
  • Use light rail services between Central and Circular Quay.
  • For travel to T1 North Shore Line stations change at Wynyard or use metro services from Central.

L4 partial line closure for Parramatta Half Marathon

On Sunday 21 June, from 5am to 12 midday, L4 Westmead and Carlingford Line light rail services will not run between Westmead and Parramatta Square due to road closures for the Parramatta Half Marathon.  
  • Light rail services will continue to run between Parramatta Square and Carlingford.  
  • During this time, use alternative transport including trains, L4 replacement bus services, regular bus services, or walking if able to, between Westmead and Parramatta Square.  
  • Replacement bus services will run every 10 to 15 minutes from 5am to 12 midday on Sunday 21 June. These frequencies may vary subject to traffic conditions.  
  • Replacement buses will not stop at the following locations:  
    • Westmead Hospital - Please use the alternative stop at Westmead Station (approx. 6 minute walk)  
    • Ngara - Please use the alternative stop at Benaud Oval (approx. 5 minute walk)  
  • Most replacement buses will be accessible; if not, wait for the next service.  
  • Where the replacement bus has an opal reader on board, you must tap on and tap off. A standard light rail fare applies.

Extra L2 and L3 light rail services run during train trackwork in the City

  • Train trackwork on the City Circle may affect how you travel.
  • Trains do not run to Museum, St James or Circular Quay but continue to run between Central, Town Hall and Wynyard. Use light rail services to Circular Quay.
  • Metro services do not run between Tallawong and Sydenham.

  • Daily from 7am to 7pm, extra L2 and L3 light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick or Juniors Kingsford.

Nightly from 8pm to 1am: L1 Dulwich Hill from Monday 22 to Wednesday 24 June, and L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines, from Monday 22 to Thursday 25 June light rail will be impacted by closures due to planned trackwork and maintenance works.
 
During this time:
 
L1 Dulwich Hill line
  • L1 services will not run between Central Grand Concourse and Convention on Monday 22 to Wednesday 24 June, nightly from 8pm to 1am.
  • Use alternative transport including L1 replacement bus services, regular bus services or walking if able to.
  • L1 light rail services will continue running between Convention and Dulwich Hill.
  • L2 and L3 weeknight closures from Monday 22 to Thursday 25 June may also impact your journey.
L1 replacement bus services:
  • Replacement bus services between Central Grand Concourse and The Star will run every 10-15 minutes from 8pm to 1am nightly.
  • These times may vary depending on road traffic.
  • Replacement buses will not stop at the following locations:
    • Capitol Square (in both directions): please use the alternative stop at Paddy’s Market (approx. 5 minute walk) for buses towards Dulwich Hill/The Star, or walk to Central Station (approx. 7 minute walk),
    • Exhibition Centre (towards Dulwich Hill/The Star) - Please use the alternative stop at Convention (approx. 7 minute walk).
  • Most replacement buses will be accessible; if not, wait for the next service. 
  • Where the replacement bus has an opal reader onboard, you must tap on and tap off. A standard light rail fare applies.

  • Use alternative transport including trains, metro, regular bus services or walking if able to, between Circular Quay and Randwick or Juniors Kingsford.
  • The L1 weeknight closure from Monday 22 to Wednesday 24 June may also impact your journey.
L2 and L3 Replacement bus services:
  • Replacement bus services between Central Chalmers Street and Randwick or Juniors Kingsford will run every 10-15 minutes from 8pm to 1am nightly. These times may vary depending on road traffic.
  • Replacement buses will not stop at the following locations:
    • Surry Hills (towards Central and Randwick or Juniors Kingsford) - Please use the alternative stop at Central Chalmers Street (approx. 8 minute walk),\Wansey Road (towards Central) - Please use the alternative stop at Royal Randwick (approx. 12 minute walk),
    • UNSW High Street (towards Central and Randwick) - Please use the alternative stop at Randwick (approx. 10 minute walk).
  • Most replacement buses will be accessible; if not, wait for the next service.
  • Where the replacement bus has an opal reader onboard, you must tap on and tap off. A standard light rail fare applies.

L2 and L3 light rail services will resume as normal from 5am Friday 26 June.

Lilyfield Light Rail lift is not available from 15 June

  • The lift at Lilyfield Light Rail stop will be out of service from 15 June until further notice while replacement works are carried out. The outage is expected to continue for at least five weeks.
  • During this period, access to the light rail stop will be available only via stairs, if you are able to do so safely.
  • Customer requiring lift access should use the nearest accessible light rail stop at Leichhardt North.
  • To get to Leichardt North stop, from the Lilyfield stop, take the local 437 bus route from the Balmain Rd after Lilyfield Rd stop, exit at the Norton St after City West Link stop and walk to the Leichhardt North light rail stop to catch the light rail.
  • Please allow extra travel time and plan ahead, using the Trip Planner and checking travel alerts to see if your travel is affected.
